Mushy Peas: Our favourite ingredients to cook at home
Mushy peas are made from dried marrowfat peas that are soaked and then simmered slowly until they break down into a thick, soft, spoonable mash with a savoury, earthy flavour.
They are the classic chip shop side, especially in the north of England, where they are also served with meat pies as "pie and peas".
