Snip through the fat edge of the gammon in a few places before it goes in the pan, or the steak curls up and cooks unevenly. Gammon is cured and already salty, so season the egg rather than the meat.
Ingredients
- 2 - Gammon Steak , fat edge snipped
- 2 - Egg , fried
- 500 g - French Fries , oven baked
- 2 - Pineapple , rings, optional
- 1 tbsp - Vegetable Oil
- 1 - Salt and Pepper , To taste
Cooking Method
- Heat the oven to 200C and bake the chips for 25 to 30 minutes, turning them once.
- Snip through the fat edge of the gammon steaks in three or four places.
- Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the gammon for 4 minutes each side, until the edges catch and colour.
- Lift the gammon out and keep it warm, then fry the egg in the same pan.
- Grill the pineapple rings for a minute each side, if you are having them.
- Serve the gammon with the egg on top, the chips alongside and black pepper over the egg.
